Biography

When threatened, a striped skunk first gives a warning by stomping its front feet. If the warning fails, the skunk turns, lifts its tail, and shoots a foul-smelling liquid from its scent glands. This distinctive spray can accurately reach its target from over ten feet away. Although this method of defense is quite effective against most predators, great horned owls will regularly prey upon skunks.
