Where do you park if you just want to go to ZooAmerica?
There is a separate year-round entryway and parking lot off of Route 743 also known as Park Avenue

 

What is the parking fee?

Parking is free at ZooAmerica (entry not permitted into Hersheypark from zoo entrance)

 

Do you rent strollers? Wheelchairs?

We rent small umbrella strollers or wheelchairs for the fee of $5.00 per use.

 

Are we able to bring our own food into the Zoo?

You are allowed to bring in packed lunches and coolers. Portable grills are not permitted. (All patrons and      bags are subject to be searched).

 

Do you allow pets in the Zoo?

We do not allow pets in the Zoo. We do allow certified service dogs.

 

How long does it take to see the whole zoo?

It takes approximately one hour to walk through the Zoo. You are more than welcome to spend as much           time as you would like.

 

How close is the zoo to Hersheypark?

ZooAmerica is a part of Hersheypark. The zoo is free when entered through the Park entry located in the Minetown area of Hersheypark. There is also a separate year-round entrance to the Zoo off of route 743.

 

What type of food do you serve at the food stand?

Do you offer group rates?

Discounted rates are available for groups of 15 or more people. Go here to view rates.

What time of day / year is best to visit?

Any time is best to visit the zoo but we recommend visiting in the morning when the animals are most active. The Zoo is open year-round so you can visit us during any season. The animals are more active during the cooler months.

Do you accept donations of reptiles or other animals?

For reptiles, the best thing to do is contact a local reptile rescue.

 

I found an injured animal, what should I do?

The best thing to do is call a local wildlife rescue for instructions. We suggest the Dauphin County Wildlife Rescue, 717-566-2613. We recommend that you handle the animal as little as possible, place it in a box and wash your hands.

 

Do you walk or drive through the zoo?

ZooAmerica is an 11-acre walk thru Wildlife Park.

 

Do you have an animal adoption program?

No, ZooAmerica does not participate in an animal adoption program.   

          

Do you have a reciprocal program with other zoos?

We do reciprocate with other zoos for our Zoo members. Go here for list of participating zoos.

 

Are you open during the winter?

ZooAmerica is open year-round, closed New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. One of the best times to visit the zoo is during the winter months, the animals are more active.

 

Do you have a petting zoo?

We do not have a petting zoo. .

 

Will I see monkeys, giraffes and elephants?

ZooAmerica exhibits plants and animals native to North America so you will only see animals native to this continent.

 

Hints for your visit?
  • PLEASE do not feed the animals (except the ducks and fish)
  • ZooAmerica is entirely non-smoking.
  • Please do not throw objects in any exhibit
  • Do not tap on the glass
  • For your and the animals' safety, do not cross any barriers
  • Do not torment or tease the animals
