A Professional Development Opportunity for Educators
April 8, 8:30 AM-3:00 PM
Why are some species endangered while others are flourishing? Join the PA Game Commission and ZooAmerica educators to examine the concepts and issues surrounding threatened and endangered species, explore the natural history of endangered and threatened species, investigate "how" and "why" species become endangered and threatened, examine laws affecting these species and explore methods biologists are using in species reintroduction. This workshop correlates with the Environment and Ecology Standards and is approved for 6 ACT 48 hours and includes a field exploration of the diverse North American species found at ZooAmerica!

Party for the Planet
April 24 & 25
Join ZooAmerica in celebrating our planet! Learn about plant and animal conservation and why you should help maintain the beauty of the earth. Free with regular admission, enjoy children activities, animal demonstrations and learn helpful tips from both ZooAmerica naturalists and local partners including Hershey Gardens, Hershey Nursery, Aqua-niche, Penn State Master Gardeners and more.
Founder’s Day

ZooAmerica officially kicks-off it’s 100 Years celebration! Join us from noon – 6 PM at the Zoo for special activities surrounding 100 Years of our Zoo in Hershey! Activities are included with you admission to ZooAmerica. Check back for details!
Birthday Party for Ranger Scratch
Join in the party at ZooAmerica as the Zoo Team celebrates Ranger Scratch’s birthday. With treats and activities, this special day is not to be missed! The party runs from 11 AM – 4 PM and is included with your admission to ZooAmerica.
Antler Antics
Did you know that reindeer have four stomachs?
In this unique three-hour program, children in grades K – 5 will learn
fun facts and myths about reindeer and compare them to other antlered
animals at ZooAmerica.
Children will listen to an animal tale, make a craft, and enjoy a snack.
Wild Winter Adventure
This three-hour program is designed to teach children
in grades K – 5 how animals deal with the cold and survive the winter.
Young animal lovers will explore the Zoo, get up-close and personal with
animal encounters, participate in storytime, and enjoy a snack.
Animal Tales…A Zoo Adventure!
Preschool and Kindergarten Adventure
Join us for this fascinating program at ZooAmerica, just for preschool children ages 3 and 4, and kindergarten children age 5. Animal Tales takes place for 4 consecutive weeks and includes:
- An animal-friendly story
- Craft activity
- Short zoo walk
- Snack
- Special meeting with a different animal each week
Animal Tales is a four-week long program that meets once a week on the following Tuesdays: March 2, 9, 16 and 23, 2010. A morning or afternoon session may be selected for your child to attend. You may sign up for single days or for all four sessions and receive a discount. Animal Tales is designed for children, ages 3, 4 & 5.
